Tonight’s GA approved a preperation measure to now start collecting bail for protesters that will be arrested.

Why you may ask, aside from Monday? The City of Denver passed out eviction notices… when there isn’t anything left to evict.  Read more.

Occupy Denver stands in solidarity with the 12/12 shut down port action

While there is no official statement on the .org, last night in GA, we voted to join the west coast as they shut down ports. Occupy Denver will be attempt to shut down a Walmart distribution center in Loveland, Colorado. Currently, Events and Media teams are attempting coordination with local unions to help join in.

This is also a blog entry reaching out not only to Occupy Denver, but also to other occupations in Colorado as well as in other cities to look up local shipping areas and/or ports to shut them down. The east coast may be on board, but if we, as Occupy Together and Occupy Wall Street join together on this, this would be monumental.

Go to your local occupations and talk to your GAs. Tweet, reblog, post, and discuss this.

Michael Moore fires up Occupy Denver, says rest of country is watching

Filmmaker and liberal activist Michael Moore told an enthusiastic Occupy Denver crowd of about 1,000 Thursday that he was not their leader.

“There is no leader to this movement,” the 67-year-old Oscar winner, flanked by two security guard in black suits, barked into a bullhorn microphone. “That’s why it’s such a large and growing movement.”

SATURDAY

Denver, Colorado, November 2nd, 2011 - This Saturday, November 5th, Denver is hosting its 2011 Veterans Day Parade in Civic Center Park, where Occupy Denver has established its Occupation. Last night, Occupy Denver came to a unanimous consensus to vacate Civic Center Park following the 7 PM General Assembly meeting on Friday, November 4th, in a show of solidarity with our veterans, our service men and women, and our fallen heroes. Occupy Denver supports the valor and sacrifice of the men and women of our armed forces, and unilaterally wishes to show unwavering support and respect for the Veterans Day Parade.

Occupy Denver will reestablish its Occupation at Skyline Park on 16th Street Mall, directly across from the Denver Federal Reserve building, and has planned a series of actions for Saturday to coincide with the bank boycott known as Bank Transfer Day, in which customers are urged to close their accounts with predatory financial institutions like Wells Fargo, Citibank, and Chase, and redeposit their funds into their local credit unions. Occupy Denver member Mitch Shenassa explains, “The Occupation has deliberately chosen the space across from the Federal Reserve as its temporary site to bring attention to the economic dangers posed by this independent central bank and its short-sighted fractional reserve banking system that cause the devaluation of our currency and the ballooning of our national debt.”

So that we’re clear, the Thunderdome and donations table WILL still be present at  Civic Center Park. The Occupation itself will move to 16th Street Mall across the Fed at Skyline Park at 12pm instead of meeting up at the park. The rally will go from there. The full press release is located here.

Frank “Frankie” Roper of Colorado Springs was Hospitalized on October 29th, 2011, after an altercation with Denver police. Mr. Roper was in Denver to be part of a nationally organized event to rally at state capitals within the Occupy Together movement in solidarity with Occupy Wall St. He and a dozen other protesters from the Occupy Colorado Springs site made an eventout of carpooling to the Occupy Denver protests to march on the state capitol.

After a violent day of being met with tear gas and rubber bullets for a march that had previously received a permit under the auspices of medical marijuana protesting, a theme many Colorado occupation protesters also support, Mr. Roper had an altercation with police that would result in his hospitalization. A Denver motorcycle policeman frustrated with protesters in his way decided to charge the impeding crowd with his motorcycle, running directly into Mr. Roper with his motorcycle. Mr. Roper reacted by shoving the motorcycle, followed by a brief sprint when he saw that the officer was turning around for him. Mr. Roper made it about 10 yards before being gang tackled by police and severely beaten resulting in multiple lacerations to his face. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Google has been asked by a US law enforcement agency to remove several videos exposing police brutality from the video sharing service YouTube, the company has revealed in its latest update to an online transparency report. Another request filed by a different agency required Google to remove videos allegedly defaming law enforcement officials. The two requests were among 92 submissions for content removal by various authorities in the US filed between January and June 2011. Both were rejected by Google along with 27 per cent of the submissions. The IT giant says the overall number of requests for content removal it receives from governmental agencies has risen, and so has the number of requests to disclose the private data of Google users.
